RE: Trojan batteries/solar

Always read it was taboo not replacing all the batteries, but when I went from 2 batteries to 4 I wasn't about to throw out 2 one and a half year old batteries! They seem to be doing just fine.

RE: solar panel

I bungee our 110w solar panel to a 4 foot aluminum step ladder. That way I can park in the shade and follow the sun. If I need a ladder I rob it from the solar panel. Kill two birds with one stone.

RE: PD9145A Charging problems.

I have had the PD9145 for about 3 years. I measure at the battery. It has always pumped out 14+ volts in the boost mode. It has now quit doing that and will only put out 13.3 in boost mode. Like I said the battery was at 60% and SHOULD take the whole 14+ volts. I am sure something is wrong but don't know if it is the Wizard or the converter. It is at the storage lot now as I am getting the FW ready for a trip and just figured I would order a Wizard or a converter if either is bad so I could just do the swap when I brought it home. I could take the Honda down there and unplug the Wizard and see what it dose. Could just order a PD9260 and be done with it, but the "boss" is getting a little tired of me throwing money at these things. :E

RE: PD9145A Charging problems.

If the battery is only at 60% it should be getting the whole 14+ volts. Doesn't matter if I check voltage 1 minute or 1 hour after I start charging it goes to 13.3 within a few seconds and stays there. I just now hooked up my FW that has the PD9260 and with 12.5 volts at the battery it is now charging at 14.2 in boost. How can I tell if it is the Wizard or the converter on the 9145? Darn, I had an extra Wizard and sold it!

PD9145A Charging problems.

I have the PD9145A with Charge Wizard in our TC. The last two trips while topping off the battery (battery down to about 60%),with the Honda 2000, I could only detect 13.3 Volts on boost and 12.7 on Normal mode. The strange part is the first time it happened when I got home I checked it and it would put out 14+ volts on boost on shore power and when I hooked up my Honda it also put our 14+ volts. It didn't do the same when I checked it this last trip. Any ideas if it is the Wizard or the converter causing the low voltage or is a call to the factory in order? Oh, I did pull the batteries (two T-105's), the first time it happened, and checked them and cleaned all the terminals.

RE: Bye-bye Cummins, soon to be bye-bye Northstar

After riding for 50 years I hung up my leathers last fall. Still remember the good times. Aw! The EARLY days of Sturgis! Have an XXX rated photo album to prove it. :E

RE: Disappearing fresh water!

Most tanks are pretty flat but take up a lot of real estate. Ours had three vents, one on each end and one in the middle plus the one near the fill opening. I put a shut off on them so when I was done filling I cold close them up and it could not syphon the tank. I also found that you could have 10-20+ gallons left that wont get to the pump pick up. I "shimmed" up the tank on the off outlet end with a 2x4 so the water would drain to the pump intake even if you are not parked level. Keep every drop and get every drop now.

Our WalMarts and King Soopers make better fried chicken than most of the restaurants here. Try 'em.

RE: Would you live in this fiver?

Most modern RV's have an electric option for the water heater and the refrigerator. You could also run electric space heaters in the trailer. No gas is needed.

RE: Fresh water pump

My guess is air is getting through the winterizing valve. Either a bad valve, had that happen to me once, or you have neglected to turn it the right direction. Easy way to check is to insert the winterizing hose in a bucket of water and see if it draws it out.

RE: Carry an extra water pump?

A couple of years ago I smoked an inverter. OH MY GAWD! I missed the Bronco game! Carry a spare inverter now. A couple of weeks ago I drained the water out of the tank and came back almost a week later and found I had left the water pump on and it had been running dry that whole time. Filled with water and found it now leaked. Pulled out the pump and took it apart and back together. Had a couple of loose screws. It worked without leaking. HOWEVER, I found a brand new replacement on eBay for $55 and have a "just in case" pump standing by.

RE: A pondering on Accumulator tanks

I have one of the midget Shurflo tanks. http://images.campingworld.com/is/image/CWI/2000/2290A.jpg?wid=230&hei=230&op_sharpen=1&layer=1&src=CWI/logo.gif&sizeN=0.3,0.3&posN=.32,.3&opac=20
Actually think about taking it out. I don't think it keeps the pump from running any more than without one and I am tired of listen to the pump run several seconds after I shut the water off. Never did have a noise problem before the accumulator so I really didn't gain anything.

RE: flojet sucking air

Stick your winterizing hose in a bucket of water while the pump is running. If the pump starts working as it should you have a winterizing valve that is leaking by. Mine did and that is how I caught it.

RE: Big Oops

Take the post to a machine shop. They can drill out the bolt and run a tap down the threads to clean them up.

RE: Cameo vs Mobile Suite vs Bighorn

I have the Bighorn and if price is a factor you cant go wrong. If I had money to burn the other two would also be on the top of my list. You might look at the Heartland Landmarks, a step up from the Bighorn, and get a few more goodies.
